Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic has conceded that Barcelona are indeed the best team of the generation after United lost 3-1 to the Catalans in the cl final at Wembley, their second loss to the same opponent in three years.
United did all they could but a breath taking performance from Barcelona which included goals from Pedro, Messi and Villa proved too much for Rooney's equaliser and won the third Cl title for the Spanish champions in six years.
And Vidic speaking after the game to Sky Sports admitted that the calibre of the Barca team was something which they had never played against.
Says, "Yes [they are the best], I think if you look at our past, we never played teams like tonight. We have to give them credit, they played good football and deserved to win."
“I have to say they had more chances than we did and we have to give them a hand and say that they were better than us tonight.”
However the Man U captain who had expressed desire to hoist the Cl title earlier in the season did admit that the whole team was disappointed with the result.
He added, “To be honest, when you come to the final, you want to win and we feel disappointed we didn’t win on the day but we have to say tonight Barcelona played some good football.
"We tried today to press high, in one part of the game we did well but I think in the goals we lost we just didn’t do what we have to.
"We gave them time on the ball, they made the final pass and they scored three goals."
